MANAGEMENT TRANSITION

Stepping into the engineering manager role is challenging and benefits from the support of an experienced manager. As a manager of 5 years at Airbnb for multiple teams and through multiple reorgs, I deeply empathize with your situation. Some examples of what we can work on together in one-on-one coaching:

  • Delegating previous Tech Lead or IC work
  • Managing up and advocating for yourself & your team to leadership
  • Navigating difficult relationships with reports, cross-functional peers, leaders
  • Reducing burn out as often you are doing more than 100% during role transitions

Frequently asked questions

I primarily work with underrepresented individuals in tech, including those facing challenges like self-doubt and imposter syndrome. My goal is to support anyone looking to enhance their career in technical fields.

I’ve worked as a mentor and coach in the nonprofit for underprivileged students as well as my own practice focused on women/non-binary in STEM since 2016. My software engineer clients thrive at companies such as OpenAI, Figma, Vercel, Lattice, Lockheed Martin, Airbnb, Bank of America, BBC or go to school at UC Berkeley, Columbia, or UT Austin. My clients mostly live in North America and Europe.

As a conference speaker, I’ve connected with diverse audiences in Asia, Europe, Africa, and North America. As the VP of our women in Tech ERG at Airbnb, I ran the Leadership & Development committee.

Everyone is experiencing a unique journey and career and I’d love to support you on yours!

Coaching focuses on helping individuals discover their own solutions and maximize their potential, often through questioning and guidance. Mentoring provides expertise, guidance, and support from someone with experience, often for longer-term career development. Consulting involves a specialist who analyzes a problem, proposes solutions, and may even implement them, often for a specific issue or project. I provide a blend of coaching and mentoring.

After sharing a bit more about our backgrounds and the logistics of my coaching practice, we’ll dive into a topic of your choice so you get a taste of what my coaching is like.

Coaching and mentorship are long-term relationships. I suggest investing at least 4-6 sessions for you to have enough time to take what we discuss and practice it in your own career and life.
